Mornington House is situated in the rolling countryside of Co. Westmeath just outside the village of Multyfarnham and near the market town of Mullingar, approximately 60 miles west and north of Irelands' capital Dublin.

Westmeath abounds in the natural beauty and diversity of its many lakes, canals and river systems, affording the visitor a wealth of opportunities to explore, discover and experience a true slice of Irish country life. Loughs Ennell, Owel, Derravaragh, Sheelin, Lene & Ree are a paradise for trout and coarse anglers. Where there are lakes there are also invariably legends and the nearby Lough Derravaragh is said to be the place where the Children of Lir spent their 300 years in isolation.

The Neolithic passage tombs at Newgrange and Loughcrew and the early Christian sites at Fore and Clonmacnoise are all within easy reach, as are the gardens at Belvedere, Balinlough, Tullynally and Loughcrew and Lakeview, making Mornington an ideal base for exploring Irelands' rich and diverse cultural history.
